Paul Smith in Beijing

Paul Smith in Beijing
#Exhibitions

The pink hurricane of Paul Smith comes to Beijing after already striking Taiwan, Japan and, most recently, Shanghai. The famous British stylist colours the halls of the Today Art Museum with his creativity and inspiration. More than 2000 pieces created during his 40-year career offer the Chinese capital the eccentric taste of the stylist, often characterised by his distinctly British sense of humour. An entire wall, six metres long and three metres high, is completely covered with coloured buttons, indispensable element in creating clothing. On display as well, the paintings and photos haphazardly collected by the stylist since his teens and carefully selected from those on display in his London offices. In short, a sampling of Paul Smith’s approach to art, as well as some examples of his extravagant creations, the result of numerous collaborations, many of which have become cultural symbols while also representing the output of a sophisticated industrial production of the highest calibre.
