The title of the exhibition, The Unspeakable Openness of Things, is a reference to philosopher Timothy Morton who believes that it is impossible to break down with language all the experiences that lay behind the artistic act of creation. This philosophic concept is the key theme behind the exhibition of Olafur Eliasson at the Red Brick Art Museum, where eight halls are occupied by installations and sculptures by the world-famous Danish artist. The visitor, moving through the exhibition, experiences the artistic transposition of phenomenon such as light, fog, shadow and even water. The elements of nature become art and as the founder of the museum, Yan Shijie, posits, “They navigate the depth of time” interacting with the limits of physical reality. The spaces of the Red Brick gather the energy that emanates from the works of Eliasson and assist in the games of the forces presented by the artist. It is an artistic and sensorial experience that transcends the realm of language.
