With an itinerary that moves from the Classic Age to today, the exhibition The Classical Now is ready to reveal new points of view: more than 50 works of art installed in the spaces of King’s College testify to the lively interest in Classicism today. The Classical Now, the largest exhibition ever organised in the spaces of the London college, winds through the Arcade of Bush House, recently re-opened after renovations, and the Inigo Rooms in the Somerset House’s East Wing. This voyage through art looks at ceramics, bronzes, marble works and mosaics from the Greeks and Romans and arrives in the last century with the studies of modern and contemporary artists such as Jean Cocteau, Damien Hirst, Yves Klein, Roy Lichtenstein, Pablo Picasso, Marc Quinn and Rachel Whiteread. The exploration looks at two different yet complementary aspects, that are, the capacity of classical art to stimulate the modern imagination and vice-versa, the possibility to elaborate, through a new and updated point of view, the lessons of the ancients - the experiment is a stunning success. The exhibition is also accompanied by a calendar of events and live performances.
