Whimsical, seductive, shadowy. The bewitching charm of London at night is the through-line of an exhibition that winds along, at the London Museum, the streets and neighbourhoods of the capital, from Soho to Sydenham, with a particular look at the captivating dark spirit that rises at dusk. In this journey from the XIX Century to today, London is immortalised in photos, shrouded in difficulties and mystery, isolated and vulnerable. The final part of the itinerary, Switch On... Switch Off, is dedicated to the activities carried out by Londoners after sundown, from working to playing, from resting to the night-shift. Through powerful photography and an immersive environment composed of approximately 200 photos by both emerging talents and celebrated artists - from Bill Brandt to Alvin Langdon Coburn and Rut Blees Luxemburg - London Nights explores the darkness and the shimmering lights, vivacious night-life and the vulnerability of shadows in a city of a thousand faces.
