To win, it isn’t all about dancing. And ballroom champion Scott Hastings and Fran, the young Spanish newcomer, know this very well. They are the protagonists of the glorious musical Strictly Ballroom, based on the work of the same name by Australian producer Baz Luhrmann, also known for his post-modern reinterpretation of Romeo + Juliet by William Shakespeare, Moulin Rouge and the cinematic transposition of The Great Gatsby. Two young people challenge the rules of the competition, showing off in an impassioned paso doble, to follow their hearts and win over the public. Thanks to an electrifying encounter of love, drama, thrilling dance and stunning costumes by designer Catherine Martin, the play conceived by director and choreographer Drew McOnie will conquer the Piccadilly Theatre. Classic pieces including Time After Time, Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps and Love is in the Air, make up the soundtrack of this spectacular performance which includes Jonny Labey, Zizi Strallen and the sensational Will Young, along with an amazing company of thirty performers, including actors, singers and dancers of West End.
