The universe of Modì, populated by muses, lovers and bohemian atmospheres, surrounds the spectator in this multimedia experience bursting with stunning evocations. The fascinating and surprising multi-sensorial narrative behind the Modigliani Art Experience - at the Museo delle Culture - which, using sounds, music and images, retraces the life of painter and sculptor Modigliani, conducting the visitor through that legendary historic moment in Paris, of which the artist was the undisputed star. Starting in the “Sala Scrigno” hall of the museum - which hosts several masterpieces of primitive African art of the XX Century from the permanent collection of the Mudec and two portraits by Modì from the Museo del Novecento, allowing visitors to appreciate, in a single room, the artistic models of primitive art that inspired the genius from Livorno - the visitor then moves on to the "Sala degli Specchi". Here, some of the most significant masterpieces of the master are displayed in a continuous game of deconstruction and refraction, which, while ending the multi-sensorial itinerary, open up a thematic discussion on the artist’s life - from Livorno to Florence and Venice, from Paris to Nice, all the way up to his premature death - and on the socio-cultural-historical context of his work. The relationship of Modigliani with sculpture, with merchants and benefactors, his meeting with Brancusi, the loves, the internationally famed primitivism and the subsequent influx of Italian "primitives" and the great classics of the history of Italian art, come together to form a tale about this brilliant country-less world traveller. There are also vintage photos depicting the life of the artist and historic characters, but also the soundtrack, philologically tied to the period and experience of Modì, showing how music - above all opera and that music heard in the literary cafes - influenced the work and life of this immense genius.
