An unseen Frida Kahlo, free from her mythical aura and analysis, sometimes morbid, carried out on her life and works, reveals, for the first time to visitors at the MUDEC - Museo delle Culture, a surprising look that offers a new way of reading her entire artistic production. The exhibition project, Frida Kahlo. Oltre il Mito, the result of six years of study and research, offers unseen and surprising archival material. The more than one-hundred works, including paintings, drawings and photos, from the Museo Dolores Olmedo in Mexico City and from the Jacques and Natasha Gelman Collection - the two most important collections of Frida in the world - as well as authoritative international museums - from the Phoenix Art Museum to the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art - who have loaned some of the masterpieces of the Mexican artist that have never before been seen in Italy. The itinerary, curated by Diego Sileo, not limited to analysing obscure family traumas, her tormented relationship with Diego Rivera, her frustrated desire to become a mother or the tragic struggle of the Mexican artist against disease, brings new, illuminating and important themes to light, from the search of the “Id” to the affirmation of her “Mexican-ness”, as well as the artist’s legendary resilience. Elements that move along the entire exhibitive itinerary, its thematic sections Donna (Woman), Terra (Land), Politica (Politics), Dolore (Pain).
