Palace of Ubud Royal Cremation
#Celebration

On 2nd March, Ubud will be holding the cremation ceremony for a member of its Royal Household, Anak Agung Niang Agung. The 24-metre cremation tower requires between 20 and 30 men to carry it from the Palace to the place where they hold the ceremony, making the occasion a rare sight to behold. In preparation for 2nd March, a number of rituals take place at Ubud Palace, including a bathing custom on 15th February and a day of prayers and offerings on 31st January.

Locals and visitors are welcome to attend the ceremony but it is strongly suggested that appropriate Balinese dress is word and native Balinese accompanies foreign visitors.
