Photos of doors, homes, people, situations connected to the life of humanity on earth. It is the planet of Ettore Sottsass, a project thought of at the start of the ‘90s, but never realised, which now takes form in a book and catalogue in occasion of the monographic exhibition hosted at the Triennale Design Museum. One-hundred years from his birth and ten years from the death of one of the most beloved Italian designers - who didn’t like to be called an artist - the spaces of the Galleria dell'Architettura host There is a Planet, the exhibition that gets its name from the project conceived by the architect for the German publishing house Wasmuth. The idea of the book, now published by Electa, gathers in five groupings, under five different titles with accompanying texts, the photos taken by the master - who made design an instrument of social criticism and a reflection on the human condition, paving the way to the season of the Radical movement - during his amazing voyages. The principal body of the exhibition is articulated around 9 themes, starting from the archive that holds the writings of Sottsass. The itinerary moves through sections relative to architecture, design, photography, painting and then objects and furnishings, until it arrives at his writings. Along the walls of the Galleria, from which the halls are entered, the works accompany a selection of photos, original to the project of the master. Among these, a never-before-seen collection of shots from the early ‘60s.
