The 1900s as told by paper in the very place that first hosted the public art institutions of the city, its collections, reunited over time, thanks to purchases and donations, growing steadily with the enormous public cultural heritage that saw the birth of numerous museums in Milan. Novecento di Carta, on display in the Sale Viscontee of Castello Sforzesco, is a voyage through a unique artistic heritage in terms of quality and variety, rarely on display because of their delicacy. It was 1991, in fact, that these treasures - more than 200 works, including drawings, prints, engravings, painted cards and books - were last on display all together, in chronological order to narrate the artists and tendencies of the last century. From Carlo Carrà to Alberto Martini, from Umberto Boccioni to Amedeo Modigliani, then Sironi, de Chirico, Guttuso, Burri, Michelangelo Pistoletto and Alighiero Boetti, the 1900s have slipped out of the Gabinetto dei Disegni, the Civica Raccolta delle Stampe “Achille Bertarelli”, the Biblioteca d’Arte, the Galleria d’Arte Moderna, the Museo del Novecento and from the collections of Intesa Sanpaolo. For those passionate about graphic art, the exhibition is also an occasion to take part in Milano Graphic Art on 12 and 13 May, two days of events, including exhibitions, workshops and guided visits to printing houses and artists’ studios.
