An exhibition dedicated to the legendary Blitz Club, the heart of London's New Romantic scene between 1979 and 1980. Located on a side street in Covent Garden, the club quickly became a hub for young creatives inspired by David Bowie, Punk, Soul, and continental cinema. These "Blitz Kids" revolutionized fashion, music, and design, turning a club night into a launchpad for global stardom. The exhibition features over 250 items, many previously unseen, including clothing, accessories, design sketches, musical instruments, flyers, magazines, furniture, artworks, photographs, vinyl records, and rare film footage. Highlights include the synthesizer used by Spandau Ballet to record their first album and Steve Strange's leather outfits. The Blitz Club launched the careers of numerous artists and designers, including Boy George, Marilyn, Stephen Jones, and Michele Clapton. The exhibition offers a sensory experience that recreates the club's atmosphere, highlighting its influence on 1980s popular culture and beyond.
Featuring more than 250 works, from personal jewels and court dress to creations by Dior, Chanel and Vivienne Westwood, the show traces Marie Antoinette’s lasting impact on fashion, the decorative arts and visual culture.
