More than 150 life-size warriors, bronze wagons, weapons and objects from 2200 years ago come to Milan from the Unesco World Heritage Site of Xi'an. It is the largest and most complete exhibition ever displayed of the Terracotta Army, the immense garrison that the first emperor of China wanted to guard his mausoleum for eternity. Discovered by chance in 1974 by three farmers digging a well, this enormous treasure became instantly world famous as a remnant of the era during which the Great Wall was constructed. At the Fabbrica del Vapore, these clay soldiers are the stars of a show suitable for visitors of all ages. Reproductions scrupulously created from plaster casts of the originals, they have been completed in every detail using traditional Chinese methods. Games of light, videos and interactive areas help create a fascinating journey through the past, while the armaments, pottery and objects that accompany them, allow us to imagine ancient China. Meanwhile, further excavations hope to uncover further tombs, once again disturbing the slumber of thousands of years.
