Art and Music in Time of Crisis

Art and Music in Time of Crisis
#Art

To celebrate the five years since the start of his project, the young and dynamic Chinese artist Zhang Ding (born in 1980 in Gansu) presents Con Trol Club, his first personal exhibition at Fosun Art Foundation. Comprised of installations and musical interludes, the exhibition-happening is a perfect occasion to reflect on the meaning of collaboration, the osmosis between genres and professionals in a context which has been heavily impacted by the lockdown and the pandemic, all undermining the real contact and interaction between people. The questions posed by Zhang Ding seem to be centred around how the individual relates to the past and future in an epoch marked by continual emergencies which only seem to push humanity ever-forward towards the next crisis. Legendary musicians such as Wang Fan, Lao Dan, Noise Temple and Omnipotent Youth Society will alternate throughout the two months of the exhibition, offering performances which challenge the concepts of music, art, distance, place and the very sense of clubs in general during an epoch that, while being fragmented and chaotic, doesn’t seem to want to surrender its dynamism.
