Donated by art collector and merchant Heinz Berggruen to his native city of Berlin, the Berggruen Collection is known worldwide for the quality of its numerous masterpieces. Paul Cézanne, Georges Braque, Pablo Picasso, Paul Klee, Henri Matisse and Alberto Giacometti are just some of the artists amply represented in the collection and which make up the heart of the exhibition organised in the spaces of the UCCA Edge. An unforgettable occasion to see, up close, masterpieces which have moulded the trajectory of art history in the XX Century, including 40 works by Picasso and 50 by Klee. After its first stops in Japan in Tokyo and Osake, the international tour of the collection - conceived during years in which the Museum in Berlin is undergoing sweeping renovations - follows with a stop in Shanghai to be followed by another stop in Beijing.
Reality and Fiction in the Feature Film by Diane Severin Nguyen
Known for her kaleidoscopic approach to photography, film and installation, Diane Severin Nguyen presents two new immersive installations. Located on the second floor of the museum, her video In Her Time is a commissioned work for the exhibition and the artist's first feature film.
The Magic of Life in a Face, According to Brian Calvin
Landscapes and portraits steeped in Californian roots dominate the Brian Calvin's works. Close-up treatment of subjects, highly composed structures, as well as luminous colors laid flat endow his large-scale paintings with a strange temporality.
Gabriel Rico’s work is characterized by the interrelation of seemingly disparate objects. Rico pairs found, collected, and manufactured materials to create sculptures that invite viewers to reflect on the relationship between humans and our natural environment.
The exhibition reveals the profound and sincere emotional depth of a painter deeply concerned about the human condition, a man capable of real compassion, love, and respect. With over 100 works of art, it is the most comprehensive exhibition of Friedrich Einhoff in China yet.
