Liang Shaoji interprets glass in an artistic way

For years, the Shanghai Glass Museum has been carrying out a project that aims to highlight the possibilities of glass as a creative material, overcoming the limits that usually associate it with craftsmanship. There are many collaborations that have been activated in recent years with various artists. The latest, in chronological order, entitled PHANTASMAGORIA, features Liang Shaoji, one of the most important contemporary Chinese artists. For over thirty years Liang Shaoji has delved into the intersections between art and biology, creating installations and sculptures, new media and performances, perseveringly exploring the juncture between them. His best-known production revolves around the life cycle of silkworms, characterized by interaction with nature, with time and with life. The silkworms, and their silk, have become the most representative artistic language of Liang Shaoji's work. On this occasion, Liang Shaoji was invited to transcend material boundaries to question and liberate his artistic creation.
