Dangxia Art Space is not only a new addition to the increasingly varied system of Chinese contemporary art. Besides being a physical space, Dangxia Art Space, starting this year, promotes an annual award dedicated to young Chinese contemporary artists under the age of forty-five. Initially nominated by experts and professionals from the art world, the artists that are part of this collective exhibition curated by the Chinese curator Li Jia, will also be evaluated by a panel of judges. One of them will be declared the winner and will have the possibility of seeing their work promoted on numerous fronts. The eight artists selected for the collective are global citizens who knowingly reclaim their place in contemporary society as messengers of art and culture. Their role as professionals, their life experiences, the perceptions of their identities and the awareness of the complexity of their generation are rooted in a time and space suspended between global and local realities, highly fluid and in continual evolution as seen in the works on display and the diversity of the languages used. An occasion to discover new talents and look at the future of one of the key components of the world of international contemporary art.
Between queer identity and historic memory - the first personal exhibition of the artist from Pakistan in Beijing.
