The personal exhibition of the young artist Wu Di, who graduated from the prestigious Central Academy of Fine Arts, is an homage to her versatility. And while having graduated from the department of mural painting of the prestigious CAFA, Wu Di works effortlessly doing painting, installations, sculpture and working with other mediums as well. Her work takes on macroscopic themes such as war, life, death and themes connected to personal experiences, her daily life and private sentiments. In the journey of introspection and exploration that she undertakes with this exhibition, the use of colour, light, shadow, the structure of classical painting but also highly varied materials - from gold leaf to metallic traps, from markers to clay, even digital printing - everything becomes an essential element to the artist. Small mushroom sculptures echo a painting on wood with gold leaf and marker on the same theme; purely abstract compositions that pay homage to geometry coexist with realistic paintings, demonstrating a multifaceted artist who, despite her young age, has entered into prestigious museums including the Long Museum and the Yuz Museum of Shanghai and the Today Art Museum of Beijing.
