Photo Slides in the Evolution of Art in China

Photo Slides in the Evolution of Art in China
#Exhibitions

Slide / Show examines the role of the photo slide in the process of creating, developing and viewing Chinese contemporary art. From the 1980s, texts and images relative to international art history began to seep into China, thanks to photo slides - used by artists, historians and curators, they were the tool for spreading and promoting various art forms from China and to China. On one hand, they served to amplify perspectives and learn of distant realities, while, on the other, they proved essential for sharing work in a broader way, reaching both a local and international public. This exhibition offers a lucid, complete and original analysis of a very unusual period in Chinese art history, from the years of the Cultural Revolution (1966 - 1976), right up to 2010. Slide / Show allows spectators to explore the various applications and evolution of photo slides in light of the changes in the world of contemporary art and its system.
