Qi Baishi, whose 160th birthday is being celebrated this year, was a painter capable of capturing the essence and soul of nature, which he transferred into his paintings with great elegance in an intimate key. Huang Yongyu, celebrated for the 100th anniversary of his birth, is a contemporary Chinese artist (he passed away in 2023), self-taught, known above all for his prints and paintings. Scenes of wild animals, foliage and human figures are recurrent in his ink works. Both came from the province of Hunan. The exhibition aims to pay tribute to the art of the two Masters, through a selection of works created in different eras by numerous artists of the past and contemporary. In addition to pieces of painting and sculpture, there is a notable display of dyeing and weaving works, embroidery, ceramics and bronzes created in past centuries. The Soundless Sound section focuses in particular on the activity of Qi Baishi, while 12 Zodiac Animals focuses on the story of Huang Yongyu's research on the zodiac animals.
