Green Art Gallery in Dubai presents a solo exhibition by Kamrooz Aram, the Iranian-American artist known for his exploration of the relationship between ornament and abstraction. In his painting and installation practice, Aram challenges the hierarchies of Western modernism and the historical division between “high” art and decorative art. Through canvases, collages, and spatial compositions, the artist investigates the tension between structure and decoration, blending influences from Islamic art and European modernism. His surfaces vibrate with geometry, patterns, and layered color, forming an autonomous language that redefines the boundary between aesthetics and ideology. Born in Shiraz and now based in Brooklyn, Kamrooz Aram studied at the Maryland Institute College of Art and Columbia University. His works are included in major international collections such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. He has exhibited at institutions including the FLAG Art Foundation, the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, and the American Academy in Rome, where he received the Carla Fendi Rome Prize in 2024.
