For the third edition of Art Here, Louvre Abu Dhabi invites contemporary artists from the Gulf Arab countries to become part of its universal history. The prestigious museum has created a new stage for artists from the region to imagine sculptures and audiovisual installations suitable for outdoor spaces, offering them a platform to be seen and heard. In collaboration with the well-known Swiss watch brand Richard Mille, Louvre Abu Dhabi illuminates the extraordinary contemporary art scene in the United Arab Emirates and the Gulf, becoming the centerpiece of an exhibition and an art award that will take place this autumn. The theme of the 2023 edition is "transparencies" to be declined on a material and perceptive level. The installation will be created under the museum's intricate floating dome of light and shadow, exploiting the interaction between liquid reflections and flashes of penetrating sunlight. Transparency in this case is much more than a simple material quality of clarity or opacity. Although it implies clarity, therefore simplicity or truthfulness, transparency is part of a process that sees meanings change with movement, understanding and over time. Exceptional curator for the 2023 edition is Maya El Khalil, who already has numerous collaborations with important international institutions on socially engaged projects.
