The great English writer Virginia Woolf was a pioneer in the use of stream of consciousness as a narrative device useful for telling stories. So it is not strange that a phrase extrapolated from the context of her famous 1928 novel, Orlando: A Biography - a book that narrates the adventures of a poet who changes sex from man to woman - became the theme around which building a great collective exhibition at the Green Art Gallery. Woolf's quote goes like this: “Memory is the seamstress, and a capricious one at that. Memory runs her needle in and out, up and down, hither and thither. We know not what comes next, or what follows after". Showcasing diversity within the textile arts, this exhibition brings together artists using a variety of techniques - from applique and felting to hand and machine embroidery - to showcase works by Hangama Amiri, Cian Dayrit, Melissa Joseph, Lebohang Kganye, Jagdeep Raina and Raed Yassin.
