House of Pearls is the first solo exhibition by Vian Sora at Third Line Gallery. The show features new paintings and works on paper that explore the world of pearls as a metaphor for achieving the stability and integrity necessary for life itself to regenerate. Sora, an Iraqi artist who found refuge in Dubai after the Iraq War, uses matter as an artistic key to explore the fundamental elements of caustic cycles - the violent solid and fluid states intrinsic to nature from which pearls grow - and examines connectivity as essential to humanity’s collective consciousness. Her abstract figures emerge from chaos, revealing an intrinsic beauty. “Discovery and accident are even more interesting to me than intention - Sora explains - because they allow you to dive into the depths of the subconscious in a way that is impossible to replicate through illustration.”
