Picasso, Chagall and Modigliani in Abu Dhabi
#Exhibitions

Works by Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, Amedeo Modigliani, Tamara De Lempicka, Sonia Delaunay, Giorgio De Chirico, Costantin Brancusi, along with many of their contemporaries, are on display in the Middle East for the first time at the Louvre of Abu Dhabi. Painters and sculptors of varying styles, personalities and ideas, but brought together by the fact that they all took part in the artistic explosion that occurred at the start of the XX Century. Decades during which Paris was the city of art, where artists gathered from every part of Europe and the world, meeting in the cafés of Montparnasse and merging into the École de Paris. A community, more than an actual school, heterogenous and cosmopolitan, founded, not on uniformity, but on the freedom of expression, in which all currents and languages were accepted for the mere fact of being “modern”. Organised by the Louvre of Abu Dhabi, the Centre Pompidou and the Agence France-Muséums, Rendez-vous in Paris: Picasso, Chagall, Modigliani & Co. (1900-1939) includes more than 80 works that testify to the extraordinary creativity of that moment in history in which, within the French capital, some of the most innovative works of the 1900s were created and some of the most important avant-garde movements, such as cubism, were born. The exhibition’s program also includes a performance by choreographer Elizabeth Streb, film projections, workshops and meetings.
