At the PAC, All the Expressions of Janpanese Art

Eighteen artists meet at the PAC – Padiglione d’Arte Contemporanea - to introduce us to various expressions of Japanese contemporary art from the new millennium, guided by trends which engage the physical body, performance elements, as well as the dynamics and sense of movement suggested by each. It’s all happening at the PAC where the project Japan. Body_Perform_Live seeks to contextualise current art forms within the lineage of the Japanese post-war avant-garde or in the recent past, activating dialogues on multiple levels between the works on display. After having critically analysed the relations between these physical expressions and society, technology and the environment, the artists - including Makoto Aida, Dumb Type, Mari Katayama, Meiro Koizumi and Yoko Ono - are invited to discuss their vision regarding life and death and how the social policies and the spirit of our times can be revealed in artistic practices.
