The lesson of the Masters of Divisionism such as Gaetano Previati, Giovanni Segantini and Pellizza da Volpedo left an indelible mark on the generations of artists who lived in the first two decades of the twentieth century. It was up to them to transform the technique of color divided on the canvas into a means to explore the expressive potential of painting. Those were years in which artists experimented with the pictorial sign: through dotted and dusty, linear, notched layers, sometimes entrusted to a more relaxed stroke, sometimes resolving into a broken and nervous handwriting. These are researches that will form the modernist basis of a reflection on the pictorial language itself, fundamental for the conceptual premises that led to the affirmation of the avant-garde of Futurism. At the Galleria Bottegantica an exhibition that investigates the parable of Divisionism.
