La forza del destino, Verdi’s famous masterpiece, had been missing from the Teatro alla Scala program since the celebrations for Verdi’s centenary in 2001. That year, the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg performed the opera. The Orchestra and Chorus of La Scala, on the other hand, have not performed La forza del destino since 1999. A very complex opera, created in 1862 in St. Petersburg and brought to La Scala in its definitive version in 1869 with the creation of the famous Symphony, La forza del destino offers some of Verdi’s most memorable melodies. On the occasion of the inauguration of the new 2024/2025 Season, Maestro Riccardo Chailly conducts a new production of the Verdi title, directed by Leo Muscato.
