The anonymous street artist of Bristol, Banksy, is the protagonist, probably contrary to his own desires, of an immersive exhibition, 100% unauthorised, at Milan’s Teatro Nuovo, looking at the pop iconography of the new millennium. Banksy, rebel art star par excellence of the 21st Century, is remastered and reinvented here, not even using images of his stencilled work left on the walls of cities around the world, but rather through a look at 100 murals created by anonymous young artists from all around Europe who describe the world in the way of the mysterious British artist. To make the experience more realistic, though the organisers have promised to offer a few reproductions of the more controversial works of Banksy such as Girl with Balloon and Flower Thrower, a section of the exhibition is dedicated to videos that discuss Banksy’s works around the world, focusing on his choice of locations, a fundamental aspect of his work.
