Cerith Wyn Evans amazes with special effects, drawing visitors into a synaesthetic experience involving light and sound, literary and musical references, along with elements that highlight poetry, science and art history. The work is articulated in a truly original manner, using editing techniques and decontextualised texts rendered in a luminous language of neon writing, fireworks and pulsating lights. The Illuminating Gas is the largest exhibition ever created by the conceptual artist from Wales, involving twenty-four works, including historic sculptures, complex monumental installations and new pieces that cast doubt on common conceptions of reality itself. The exhibition includes Forms in Space…by Light (in Time) from 2017, originally conceived for the Duveen Galleries of the Tate Britain in London and StarStarStar/Steer (totransversephoton) from 2019. This work, created specifically for the exhibition, kicks off the itinerary with a choreography of light and shadow that intermittently invades the space.
Fifteenth Century Milan goes on display at the Museo del Duomo - designs from the "Atlantic Codex" and immersive reconstructions reveal the ideas of the genius Da Vinci for the city’s greatest landmark building.
