The Triennale’s Homage to Achille Castiglioni

The Triennale’s Homage to Achille Castiglioni
#Exhibitions

One-hundred years from the birth of Achille Castiglioni, the Triennale of Milan pays homage to one of Italy’s most important masters of design. This monographic exhibition tells of this versatile figure through a sort of map of both macro and micro concepts that recur in the artist’s projects, displayed throughout the space, often overlapping and intersecting. Grouped together in twenty “clusters”, the projects are placed in relation to one another, in an effort to detail the approach of Castiglioni to design and his method as it related to various sectors - from product design to monumental architecture - moving through the numerous and emblematic displays. His creations - up to 1968, the fruit of his collaboration with brothers Livio and Pier Giacomo - are born out of a capacity to find inspiration in the quotidian and transform it into something more, bringing irony into the relationship between function and form.
