The masterpieces of the Ca’Oro of Venice are temporarily leaving the Lagoon to fly to Place de la Concorde. Until the 26th of March, the Hôtel de la Marine will host a collection of works from the Galleria Giorgio Franchetti, closed temporarily because of work on the premises. The exhibition spaces of the Collection Al Thani will serve as the background to an itinerary entitled Ca'd'Oro, Chefs-d'Oeuvre de la Renaissance à Venise, curated by the conservator of the Louvre, Philippe Magouyres. The works on display - exceptional loans from the Galleria Giorgio Franchetti at the Ca' d'Oro which will be subject to restoration in the coming months - are all part of the donation of the collection gathered by Baron Giorgio Franchetti, as well as other Venetian museums. On display amongst the greatest artists active in Venice during the Renaissance are also Gentile Bellini and Paris Bordon. Among the masterpieces not to miss, there is also San Sebastiano, last masterpiece by Andrea Mantegna, entering the collection of the Baron Franchetti in 1893, leaving Venice for the first time ever to be a part of this exhibition.
