On the occasion of the centenary of the Hanoi School of Fine Arts, an exhibition celebrates the encounter between Western art and Vietnamese traditions. The intense exchanges between Vietnam and the West during the 20th century gave birth to a new Indochinese style that marked the entry of Vietnamese art into modernity. The combination of techniques and materials from Western and Asian traditions is emblematic of artworks which have enjoyed growing popularity on the art market over the past thirty years. The Musée du Quai Branly is lending a beautiful set of sculptures by Vu Cao Dam, and a set of paintings by Lê Phô, Mai-Thu and Vu Cao Dam from the collections of the National Centre for Plastic Arts.
