In the spaces of the Salette della Torre Borgia at the Vatican Museums, it is possible to admire a special art collection, dedicated to self-portraits made by Italian and international artists between the early and late twentieth century, to which are added the portraits of some writers-artists such as Carlo Levi, Trilussa and Mino Maccari and other nineteenth-century painters. The work of the Venetian Linda Buonajuti stands out among all, who in the guise of a full-length Amazon welcomes visitors at the beginning of the exhibition. Alongside her, famous names of Italian art such as Giacomo Balla, Giorgio de Chirico, Mino Delle Site, Emilio Greco, Pietro Marussig, to name just a few. The collection of 64 self-portraits, which belonged to the entrepreneur Franco Nobili and his wife Maria Antonietta, was recently donated by the heirs to the Vatican Museums and has become part of the Collection of Modern and Contemporary Art.
