The TANK Gallery presents art that invites reflection on the state of affairs in today's Chinese society and the changing global scene. The artists involved are 35 contemporary artists who were born in the 1980s and who now live and work in China. They are the children of the generation that hoped for the advent of a global world and who placed their dreams of freedom and change in the symbols of the West. Since then, time has passed, globalization has overwhelmed the order of things, blowing up traditional patterns and models. New challenges lie ahead: facing the tensions of our time and rekindling the courage to imagine the future. Sun Dongdong, the curator of the exhibition, is a careful observer of the evolution of contemporary Chinese art and new media in the "post-Olympic era": his task is to trace a map of today's narratives.
