After completing his studies at the Shanghai Art & Design Academy, Yang Yongliang moved to New York. An Oriental in a foreign land, the artist transfers his reflections on cultural identity and artistic creation into his digital works. Yang Yongliang has developed an original and dreamlike vision of the Western metropolis in which he lives, Manhattan, which he represents with its intricate labyrinth of skyscrapers, keeping in mind the perspective of the Chinese imagination linked to the "mirage". It is an invitation to reflect on current issues that concern individual identity, the meeting of different civilizations and the expression of art in an intercultural context where it is the artist's task to try to bridge cultural gaps and facilitate spiritual communication.
