Curated by photography specialist Nathalie Herschdorfer, director of the Museum of Fine Arts of Le Locle in Switzerland, SCoP presents an extraordinary series of photos, results of the creative visions of photographers, such as Paolo Roversi and Nick Knight, the late Peter Lindbergh, Bruce Weber, Mario Testino and Juergen Teller along with colleagues Ellen von Unwerth, Viviane Sassen, Inez Van Lamsweerde, Emma Summerton, Ina Jang and two promising talents from the new generation of photographers in China, Kiki Xue and Feng Li. The more than one-hundred works gathered in this itinerant exhibition, which finds ripe territory at the SCoP, reflect on the evolution of fashion photography, a genre which has always been adept at reinventing itself and moving towards new horizons. Over the last ten years, fashion photography has broadened its interests considerably and, from a mere instrument geared towards selling clothes, has managed to stay in step with the times and give space to the creative visions of photographers whose works, beyond speaking of dress, also speak of art, culture and sociology. The photographers on display have always been able to address a broader public and take on themes that embrace and narrate the whole of contemporary society. Organised in collaboration with FEP, The Foundation for the Exhibition of Photography of Minneapolis, the exhibition introduces a new narrative, a new way of thinking of fashion photography and of executing it.
The Shanghai Center Theater is a theater in the beating heart of the modern city, the pedestrian thoroughfare of West Nanjing Road, right near the Bund - a cosmopolitan climate which hosts the domestic stage of the local acrobatic troupe, the world-famous Shanghai Acrobatic Troupe.
