In the Paintings of David Hockney - The Immersive Exhibition

The Pop universe of David Hockney becomes a three-dimensional show. Engaging, immersive and multi-sensorial, the exhibition at the Lightroom in London puts spectators face-to-face with an icon of contemporary painting. With the music of Nico Muhly and the voice of the artist as a guide, we journey from Los Angeles to Yorkshire, and as far as Normandy, in the places of the life and art of Hockney to relive, through his eyes, a creative adventure lasting over sixty years. Exploring the four floors of the new exhibition spaces of King’s Cross, we find ourselves right in the middle of vividly colourful paintings recreated by spectacular projections - from the most beloved masterpieces to several never-before-seen works showing how the eighty-five-year-old British painter never stops experimenting. “The world is very very beautiful if you look at it, but most people don’t do so often. They look at the ground in front of them to walk, they don’t really look at things with intensity. I do,” explains the artist. Besides transporting us to a world of vibrant beauty, in this British exhibition, Hockney explains, step by step, how his works are born - we see him “draw with the camera”, capturing the passage of time in Polaroid collages, painting with an iPad the joy of Spring, showing how only painting can capture the enormity of the Grand Canyon.
