Awaiting the New Year with the Angels of Harlem
#Music

Baptised the “Angels of Harlem” by U2 in 1988, after they recorded the magnificent I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For together, since then, the Harlem Gospel Choir has toured the world, bringing its “inspired music” everywhere. The next stop is at the Blue Note of Milan, a hotspot for lovers of jazz and its offshoots which, over the years, has hosted celebrated acts such as Chick Corea and Brad Mehldau, Dee Dee Bridgewater and the Blues Brothers, Al Di Meola, Enrico Rava, Paolo Fresu and Stefano Bollani. And now its time for the best musicians and singers of the Black Church of Harlem, together for thirty years with the world famous choir conceived of by Director Allen Bailey as he watched a celebration in honour of Martin Luther King. Rhythm, energy and - why not - a touch of sweetness, ready to heat up six long nights with authentic gospel which is still sung today in the churches of New York. “Bring people together and give them something, helping people understand African-American culture” is the declared goal of the Angels of Harlem. But engaging the public in a unique experience is a natural gift for them - in a matter of minutes, you’ll be surprised to find yourself, moving, singing and dancing along with these exceptional voices, united by their belief in God and the power of music.
