The Eclecticism of Lygia Pape at the Fondazione Carriero

The Eclecticism of Lygia Pape at the Fondazione Carriero
#Exhibitions

Versatility and eclecticism. On the wake of these characteristics, inseparable from Lygia Pape, fifteen years after her death, the Fondazione Carriero dedicates an exhibition to the forty-year career of the Brasilian artist who took on a multiplicity of languages - from drawing to sculpture, from video to ballet and even photography - a highly personal artistic synthesis. It is the first monographic exhibition ever hosted by an Italian institution dedicated to one of the major exponents of Neo-Concrete movement in Brazil, organised with the tight collaboration of Projeto Lygia Pape. The exhibition - well-inserted into the spaces of the Foundation - represents a real journey through the universe of the artist, with series of works created from 1952 to 2000. In the work of Lygia Pape, characterised by a declination of modernism, where the human figure acquires centrality and the language opens itself to sensuality in a sort of artistic syncretism, diametrically opposing worlds co-exist.
