Mimmo Paladino and Stefano Boeri, Carlo Verdone and Marco Bellocchio, Sebastião Salgado and Ferdinando Scianna. These are just some of the people featured in the exhibition dedicated to Gianni Berengo Gardin for the year of his 90th birthday. The halls of Forma Meravigli host photos by the famous photographer, known for his journalistic work, documentaries and urban scenes, along with texts by 24 stars of culture, chosen out of the artist’s friends, colleagues, intellectuals and artists. His photos, testimony to an era and the evolution of society are also seen in the context of the numerous encounters that Berengo Gardin made during his 60-year career. A life dedicated to photography but, above all, to his social and civil responsibility, clearly seen in the images with which he froze important moments in Italian society, from his reports in the ‘70s on madhouses to the mooring of large ships in Venice, still a very controversial subject today. Then there are his famed “stolen kisses” - simple and romantic gestures, long prohibited in public, mirror of a culture and the development of the country’s customs.
