In a sort of theatre of elements, the Belgian artist Edith Dekyndt offers her images which, as she herself sustains, are of interest “in as much as they are phenomenon of appearance in movement”. The objects which crowd the 24 window displays of the Passage de la Bourse de Commerce, are mixed with three videos which also reflect the “fascinating existence of things”. The "scenes” of Edith Dekyndt, mute and alive, immobile and animated in a suspended time, draw out the same sense of surprise in the viewer as was perceived by the artist herself in front of the paintings of Vermeer when she was twenty. Inspired by the “actants” of sociologist Bruno Latour, Dekyndt refers to her subjects as “patients”, exactly because the elements that the artist activates await to be found, repaired, transfomed from chemical, physical, meteorological and atmospheric factors. With the “unfinished” at the centre of her work, Dekyndt invites the public to an open creative process, focused on the exploration of ideas and experiences, while the study of movement and the transformation of the elements denotes the ineffable grades and variations of colours, light and atmospheric perspective.
