With the Olympics invading Paris, the French capital could not miss a major exhibition dedicated to the relationship between the world of fashion and that of sport. From 20 September 2023 to 7 April 2024, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs presents an exhibition that celebrates the relationship between these two worlds that are apparently distant but which are increasingly intertwined in daily lifestyles. The exhibition traces the relationship between fashion and sport from the 19th century to today through a selection of clothing, accessories, photographs, paintings, posters and videos, revealing how sportswear has gradually established itself over time, passing from being worn exclusively during sports activities to become part of the daily urban wardrobe. We will see pioneering stylists - Gabrielle Chanel, Jeanne Lanvin, Jean Patou and Elsa Schiaparelli - to arrive at the contemporary world where sport has become omnipresent, with logos, signs and sneakers invading advertising campaigns and high fashion shows and where great athletes are now established fashion ambassadors.
