Stone begins to speak again - through light. At the Ara Pacis Museum, The Ara Revealed comes to life, an immersive multimedia experience that guides visitors through one of the most iconic monuments of ancient Rome. Through videomapping technology, the monument regains its original colors: sculpted surfaces are brought to life, restoring their lost polychromy and transforming reliefs and decorations into a compelling visual narrative. Panels depicting Aeneas, Tellus, and the grand processions emerge before the viewer, offering a striking and unexpected vision. The visit unfolds in small groups along a route that moves both around and inside the Ara Pacis. An audio narration, delivered through headsets and enriched by music and soundscapes, accompanies visitors through the monument’s history, symbolism, and rediscovery. Lasting approximately 45 minutes, the experience is conceived as a sensory journey that combines historical accuracy with spectacle, making one of antiquity’s masterpieces both accessible and deeply engaging.
