The splendor of ancient Egypt comes to Tokyo with a major exhibition organized at the Mori Art Museum in collaboration with the Brooklyn Museum in New York. Through approximately 150 exhibits, including sculptures, coffins, jewelry, ceramics, papyrus, and human and cat mummies, this exhibition reveals the lesser-known aspects of the daily life of ancient Egyptians, trying to answer some questions guided by Egyptian archaeologist Kawae Shoyo: how did people live, what did they eat, and what did they fear? What language did they speak and what did they write? Why and how were the pyramids built? What messages were entrusted to the mummies? And what is the afterlife? An exhibition that is a journey of discovery through the history of a distant and fascinating world, still full of mysteries and curiosities to be discovered.
