Kosugi Kunitaro was a Japanese artist, born in Nikko in 1881. He studied oil painting and distinguished himself as a Western-style painter, but gradually changed his style to move towards Nihon-ga (Japanese-style painting) and then decided to renew his name to Hoan. This exhibition will present a series of oil paintings, Japanese-style paintings and watercolors, with a special focus on Hoan's works from the collection of the Kosugi Hoan Memorial Nikko Museum of Art.
