Rebirth is the Key Word for the 7th Edition of Gallery Weekend Beijing

The chosen theme for the 7th Edition of Gallery Weekend Beijing 2023 is Visibility. Never as much as for this edition has making contemporary art in China and its key players visible represented such a rebirth. The initiative is nourished by a synergy between various institutions, both Chinese and international, present in the area but also invited from abroad to exhibit in temporary spaces. Various sections focus attention on well-known spaces as well as emerging ones, commercial and non-profit spaces, pushing the confines of the event beyond the 798 Art Zone and Caochangdi to embrace the various realities scattered throughout the Chinese mega-city. Besides the participating local galleries, there are a selection of 12 galleries from Berlin, London, Los Angeles, Paris, Hong Kong, Taipei, including, for the first time, the David Kordansky Gallery, Esther Schipper, Galerie Thomas Schulte and Sprüth Magers. The section dedicated to public art projects is curated by Leo Li Chen this year who, with Facets, exalts the interaction between genders, exploring the heterogeneity of artistic languages.
