This is Shama Al Hamed’s first solo exhibition, curated by Walter Willems, hosted in Dubai. A collection of paintings, sculptures and installations that offers a personal exploration of the artist’s journey, offering insights into the formative experiences and emotions that have shaped her creative practice and artistic perspective. Shama in this exhibition uses the metaphor of the "jump" as a symbol of movement, through time, memory and emotion. “This body of work is a visual narrative of resilience and transformation,” explained Shama Al Hamed, “where each piece represents a leap, a moment of research and an embrace of uncertainty that fuels my growth.” A recurring theme in her work is the integration of architectural models, derived from photographs of buildings that framed her childhood. Projects, transformed through repetition and abstraction, that evoke memories and the influence of physical spaces on her creative vision.
