Le Bohèmien by Edouard Manet, Femmes au Jardin by Claude Monet, La Route de Verrières by Alfred Sisley, La Partie de Bésigue by Gustave Caillebotte, La Femme à la Cafetière by Paul Cézanne. These are just some of the masterpieces of Impressionism on display in the exhibition at the Louvre Abu Dhabi until February 5, 2023. Organised to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Museum, in collaboration with the Musée d'Orsay and France Muséums, the exhibition presents over 150 works of art, with paintings, drawings, prints and photos, as well as five sets of clothes from the era and a contemporary installation. Organised chronologically and thematically and subdivided into fifteen sections, Pathways to Modernity - the title of the exhibition - shines a light on the extraordinary creativity with which French artists responded to the profound social and economic changes of their times. It starts with the precursors, such as Courbet, Rousseau and Corot, then onto the most significant works of the great masters, Monet, Renoir, Cézanne, Morisot, Pissarro and Sisley, then up to the evolution of the movement and its legacy. Among the works on display, an important acquisition by the Louvre Abu Dhabi, La Tasse de Chocolat by Pierre-Auguste Renoir.
