The project that Deutsche Bank brings to Mudec is perfectly in line with contemporary conventional art. No surprises. The artist La Chola Poblete is a performer and activist for LGBTQ+ rights who perfectly conforms to the guidelines of current thought: the ramifications of the Inquisition, the legacy of colonization and the pervasive influence of global capitalism. Argentine by origin and queer identity, La Chola Poblete chooses the name of her hometown in Northwest Argentina, at the foot of the Andes, as the title of the exhibition and borrows symbols and motifs from indigenous culture to assert her challenge to the established order of art, defined by Western institutions. The works will be hosted at Northwest, a free exhibition space in Milan.
The itinerary includes over a hundred photographs from the Ballo+Ballo studio, founded by Aldo Ballo and Marirosa Toscani, some design objects and some original objects belonging to the two photographers, as well as vintage magazines with which the Ballos collaborated and volumes containing their photographs.
