An unprecedented event, the exhibition that, starting in June, brings 60 masterpieces of the Museo Capodimonte to the Louvre - Michelangelo, Raphael, Titian and Caravaggio are the protagonists of an original artistic conversation which, for six months, will revolutionise the itinerary of visits to the Parisian museum. In the most prestiguous halls of Rue de Rivoli, the guest works will dialogue will the Italian jewels of the Louvre, gathering, in a single itinerary, two of the most important collections in the world. “Royal palaces transformed into museums, rich in collections inherited by the greatest sovereigns, symbols of the historic ties between France and Italy, the Louvre and the Capodimonte have a lot to share and a lot to tell,” observes the director of the Parisian museum, Laurence des Cars. Three distinct sections map out a voyage through wonder. In the Grand Galerie, will be the stunning masterpieces of painting from the Renaissance to the Baroque - added to the aforementioned artists will also be masters such as Giovanni Bellini, Masaccio, Artemisia Gentileschi, Guido Reni, Correggio and Parmigianino. The second section is in the Salle de la Chapelle to discover the origins and varitey of the collection of the Capodimonte - legendary objects such as the Cofanetto Farnese and the biscuit ware of the Caduta dei Giganti will launch visitors into the history of the Kingdom of Naples. Finally, in the Hall of the Clock, one can admire the treasures of the Cabinet of Drawings and Prints of the Capodimonte, the richest in Italy after the Uffizi Galleries. Here, the public can admire rare and precious works, such as the preparatory cardboards of Raphael and Michelangelo for the Vatican frescoes, in dialogue with the Renaissance drawings of the Louvre.
